Hello, my name is Loki!

I'm a pretty special guy looking for an experienced and understanding family that will help me grow and develop my confidence in a home environment. I can be quite anxious and unsure in new social situations so you can't just come to the shelter and meet me - instead, you will need to follow the link at the bottom of this page and fill out the Exceptional Owner form so the staff can help me choose the most suitable family for the job!

When I first arrived at the shelter I was very unsure when meeting new people and became overwhelmed and uncomfortable easily. The staff here have been helping me settle and learn that people aren't all that scary. I have come a long way and once I know someone and feel comfortable, I can become quite playful and silly. Sometimes I still get unsure so I would prefer to go to a quieter home that has experience with dogs like me.

A consistent, mature home environment is ideal for me, somewhere calm and not too busy where my world can stay fairly small and safe. Positive training will help me settle and build my skills. I will need my family to help with this everyday. I also take special medication to help me be more receptive to learning.

I can be a little unsure of other dogs, but I can warm up to them if it's the right friend and a good friend can be a great comfort sometimes. However, I'm best suited to a dog my own size and someone tolerant and calm while I learn to negotiate good doggy play! If you have another dog at home, you will need to bring them to meet me to ensure we can be besties.
