About Barry
**Please note all horses are on Agistment and not at RSPCA WA Malaga Shelter**
Meet Barry - Smart, Sensitive, and Sassy.
Barry isn't your typical off-the-track Thoroughbred - he's clever, quirky, and just a little bit sassy. He arrived underweight and looking rough around the edges, but he's come a long way and is now looking and feeling fantastic. At 16HH Barry is a sturdy and strapping horse.
Emotionally, Barry's still working things out. He's learning that people aren't so bad, and that things like head rubs and halters don't have to be scary.
He can be a bit reactive, especially around his face and on his right side. New environments or changes in routine can make him nervous, and he tends to forget about personal space when he's feeling unsure. It's likely he didn't get the gentlest start in life, so now he's figuring out that not all handling is stressful.
He's still finding things like hoof care and close handling a bit tricky, but with consistent, low-pressure training, Barry really starts to shine. He picks things up quickly and thrives when life is calm, kind, and predictable.
Barry's ideal human:
Knows their way around young or under-handled horses
Is calm, confident, and full of patience
Can offer him a quiet, routine-focused environment
Understands that progress takes time - and maybe a few deep breaths
Barry isn't a blank slate - he's got a story, and he's still writing the next chapter. With the right person, he'll blossom into a loyal and rewarding companion.
He's not after the fast lane anymore. Barry's just looking for someone steady, kind, and committed to helping him feel safe in his own skin.
Could that someone be you?
