About Pixel
Hello, my name is Pixel. I'm only eight months old, and even though I've had a bit of a rough start, I'm doing my very best to be brave every day.
I had an injury early in life that meant my front leg had to be amputated. It sounds big and scary, but I've adjusted really well and can get around just fine. I'm learning how strong I am, one step at a time.
I'm a timid soul, and the world can feel like a pretty scary place sometimes, therefore I would only be able to live with older 12+ calm children in the home. I take a little while to warm up to new people and new environments, but if you're willing to sit with me, spend quiet time together, and let me get to know you at my own pace, I'll start to build trust.
I would also benefit greatly by having another dog in the home to help build my confidence and someone to show me the ropes. I'm looking for someone patient, gentle, and kind-someone who understands that love doesn't need to be rushed.
A few things to know about my care:
As a tripod dog, I function well, but I'll need help staying at a healthy weight and enjoying gentle, regular exercise to protect my joints. Ongoing physiotherapy is recommended to keep me comfortable and strong.
I have mild hip dysplasia in both hips. Right now, I'm comfortable and not in pain, but I'm on a plan to help slow arthritis as I grow. This includes Cartrophen injections and a 4Cyte supplement, along with careful monitoring.
I'm a Special Terms Adoption, which means you'll need to see your regular vet within two weeks of adoption to continue my care plan and finish my current treatment course.
With the right home, I know I'll continue to grow in confidence. I may not rush up for pats straight away, but when I trust you, it will mean everything-because you earned it.
If you have a calm home, a soft voice, and a big heart, I'd love the chance to meet you.
*Please note Pixel is a meet with our Behaviour Team between Tuesday-Friday.
Dear Visitor, please note a property check may be required before adoption to ensure the safety and welfare of our animals. Rental agreements allowing pets will be required for adoptions into rental properties.
Please note that this website is live and updates frequently, there is a chance that by the time you arrive at our location the animal you have an interest in might have been adopted by another party. We unfortunately can not put animals on hold over the phone.
