Hi, I'm Walker!

I may be a bit different from your average pup-I'm deaf, which means I don't hear the world around me like other dogs do. But don't let that scare you! I just need someone with knowledge and/or experience working with deaf dogs. Training me is a little different, and I'll need a human who can teach me things like recall and sit using visual cues or hand signals. I'm a fast learner, and with the right approach, we can form a great bond!

I also would love a home where someone is home more often, as I get a little anxious when left alone. Having another dog around would help me settle in so much faster! I'm very dog-social, and I offer great body language-I'm a little timid at first, but once I feel comfortable, I'm playful and ready to have fun. I tend to follow the lead of other dogs, so having a dog buddy would make everything easier for me.

I'm still learning about walking on a lead, but I'm making good progress with some positive rewards here at the shelter. I check in often with my handler, which is a great sign for recall and lead training. I would love to continue this training with you, especially since I love food! Brain games, enrichment, and lots of toys would make me a happy boy.

Speaking of toys, I absolutely love balls! I'm a fetch enthusiast and will bring the ball right back to you. I also really enjoy cuddles and love to check in with my humans to make sure we're connected.

I can go to a home with kids, though I can be a little unsure of fast movements or new environments. Since I can't hear things coming, I might get startled if I'm touched unexpectedly or woken up suddenly. But even then, I tend to become submissive and recover very quickly, so as long as you're understanding and patient, we'll be just fine!
