About Gypsy
Hi, I’m Gypsy. Here’s a little about me.
I’m a young shepherd with a big heart and a lot of love to give. I’m affectionate and form strong bonds with my people quite quickly, and once I feel safe with you, I really enjoy being close and spending quality time together.
The world can feel a bit overwhelming for me at times. New places, loud environments, and unfamiliar people can make me unsure, so I need a calm and understanding family who will go at my pace and give me the time I need to settle in. With patience and support, I will grow in confidence and show you just how lovely I am.
I would love a home where I can be part of both indoor and outdoor life. I enjoy being included in adventures, but I also really value relaxing at home with my people.
Sometimes I can feel worried with close handling, like grooming or vet checks. When I’m unsure, I might try to avoid the situation or show that I need space. I will need gentle, positive handling and ongoing training to help me build confidence in these situations. Taking things slowly and giving me breaks really helps me feel safe.
I am a smart girl and I really love my food, which makes training fun and rewarding for me. Enrichment activities are a great way to keep my mind busy and help me feel settled, especially at mealtimes. I would thrive in a home that continues to give me both mental and physical stimulation while helping me learn new skills.
Other dogs can be a big challenge for me. I can become very reactive, so I will need a committed owner who is willing to continue my training using positive reinforcement and ideally work alongside a professional trainer. Quiet walking areas and giving me plenty of space will help set me up for success. I am learning skills like checking in and redirecting my focus, and I will need someone who is dedicated to helping me practise these.
I may be suited to a home with older, calmer children who can understand when I need space and are happy to be part of my training. I will need to meet all family members before going home.
I have lived with another dog before, but introductions are very important for me. I will need to meet any resident dogs, starting calmly and giving me the chance to feel comfortable at each step.
What I need most is a patient and supportive home that will help me continue to grow and feel safe in the world. In return, I will be a loyal, affectionate companion who just wants to be part of your life.
