About Mia
Project Cat
Cat experienced owner needed
Mia arrived at the shelter as a stray with her young kittens. Understandably, she was frightened and unsure of her new surroundings. Now that all of her kittens have found loving homes, it's Mia's turn to find a forever family of her own.
Since spending time in foster care, Mia has made wonderful progress, but she is still learning to trust people and will need a quiet home with a patient adopter or couple who can continue building her confidence. With time, understanding, and consistency, Mia's sweet personality begins to shine through.
Once she feels safe and comfortable, Mia reveals her adorable goofy side. She loves rolling onto her back while making soft, chirpy little sounds that are impossible not to smile at. Playtime is one of her favourite activities, so plenty of toys are a must. At first, she may prefer to play independently when no one is around, but as her trust grows, she'll happily engage in interactive play with wand toys.
Mia can sometimes be a little "nibbly" as she likes to explore the world with her mouth. This often happens after she sniffs your hand and is not intended aggressively. We do want to discourage this behaviour, so if it occurs, simply redirect her attention to an appropriate toy she can nibble instead.
Mia is highly food-motivated, which helps make socialisation easier. She will often accept gentle head scratches while eating and sometimes even leans in for more affection. These small moments are wonderful signs of the trust she is building.
Mia is also cat-friendly and would likely thrive in a home with a confident resident cat who can help show her that people aren't so scary and teach her the ropes. However, she would also be perfectly happy as the only furry family member in the home.
Mia needs an owner who has previous cat experience and understands how to read a cats body language.
Mia may not be the kind of cat who settles in overnight, but for the right person, watching her blossom into a confident and happy companion will be incredibly rewarding and heartwarming.
