About Arya
Hi my name is Arya and I am a tough little girl who came into shelter with a bad leg, I have gone through surgery to correct it and I am now on the lookout for my second chance at life and love with an amazing family!! I am a medium energy dog who loves to go on walks and adventures with my favorite people, I would love owners who are going to continue my training as I love to learn and thrive on training sessions with my people. I have loved being provided with fun enrichment the shelter staff make yard time so much fun, I would be so grateful if my new owners can also do this, I love to forage and hunt for my food it keeps me mentally active and I can engage in my natural behaviors. My ideal home would be with slightly older children as I will need some time and space to settle and get to know my new family, I have met some social dogs here and I enjoy having a play with them, if you have another dog at home make sure you bring them in for a meet and greet to make sure we are the right fit, I won't be able to live with any smaller animals as I have been known to like to chase and play with them. I also need to have secure fencing in my home to keep me safe and happy while you leave me alone.
Some of the things I love:
- To say hi to as many people as I can on my walks.
- Treats! (but my vet team has given strict instructions to keep me at my current ideal weight).
- To stare longingly into your eyes while you have a meal, just in case you feel like sharing (make sure you can resist my charms).
- Going on short walks and adventures. I recently discovered the beach and waves, and I think I could warm up to them.
- Squeaky toys. I really enjoy waking up the neighbourhood with their squeaks, and I am also very good at chewing them up.
I am a smart girl too. I know how to sit, stay and roll over. For my post surgical recovery period, I had to be crate trained, and even now I would happily stay in a crate if I needed to. Storms and alone time don’t frighten me, but I do very much enjoy company. I am a bit of an office dog here at the clinic (dare I say, even a bit of a favourite among the team). They enjoy having me around, just as much as I enjoy being around them. I would love owners who are going to continue my training as I love to learn and thrive on training sessions.
