About Spikey

Hi, I'm Spikey, a cheeky older chap looking for a special family to love me through my golden years!

I am partial to a long sniff walk and make sure that I decipherer all the information I can about the world around me, which means we may move at a snail's pace. I am a bit of a puzzle master and love all things enrichment, especially if there is roast chicken and cream cheese involved. When first coming home I would love to spend a few weeks lazing around before venturing out on adventures and it would be great if I had a comfy space inside to snooze when we return. I explore the world through my nose and would love a secure, fully fenced yarded area to explore till my heart's content.

I can be a bit of a timid boy when first meeting new people, however I quickly capture the hearts of all that take the time to win my love. I would love my new family members to be older, able to read my cues and take their time building a bond with me. I will need slow interactions with my new family to learn how good affection can be, like I have with my known shelter friends and quickly my personality will shine.

I have met a few canine friends in care and try to make friends, however I sometimes get too up close and personal. It would be best if my canine companion was comfortable with my level of interaction, as I may not be everyone's cup of tea and they might not be mine. I gravitate to smaller canine friends and can become overwhelmed when they are too big. As I can be a bit selective, I won't be able to explore off lead areas, however I wouldn't mind a nice stroll with a calm companion.

I will need time to bond with my new family and would love if you lived close to the Hunter Shelter, so we can have multiple meets to get to know each other. I can be a bit unsure of new surroundings, so once we have chosen each other, my Shelter friends will take me on an adventure to meet you at our new home, to help me settle in.
