About Shadow

Hello there, my name is Shadow. I'm a shy and gentle lady looking for my new home!

I'd suit a quieter home with experienced Shar Pei owners, where I can be included as part of the family, but still have my own space when I need it. I would appreciate the choice to come both inside and outdoors as well as joining you for regular walks or simply snuggling up on a nice soft bed by your feet in the evening.

There is still much to learn about this big, beautiful world, it may take time for me to build my confidence, but I would benefit from fear free handling and positive reinforcement training, with lots of love and yummy treats!

My new home will need to have secure fences to help keep me safe, with no gaps or holes I could squeeze through. An adult only household would suit me best, where our bond and relationship can be all the more special.

I know sometimes you have to go out, if you leave me with fun toys, yum treats, fresh water bowl and a sheltered, snuggly bed, I should be safe and happy until you get home. I would benefit from a daily activity such as a lickimat, a chew, a snuffle mat or interactive feeders to help keep my mind and body active and build my confidence.

I would benefit from having a safe space all of my own, like a crate, where I can go to relax and unwind when things get a bit much for me. The shelter staff recommend crate training me and can provide a helpful guide to help things go smoothly.

I get along well with other dogs of a similar, calmer nature, so if you have another dog at home, please bring them in to meet me to make sure we will be friends. Dog parks or off-leash areas are not ideal for me as there may be rude dogs who would rush up to me, and what I really need is a little bit of space to figure them out and build my confidence, before becoming friends.
