About Sadie
****************** EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST BEING TAKEN **************
This stunning young girl is Sadie, a 9-month-old Great Dane.
We are looking for a very special home for this very special girl. A home where she will find kindness, understanding & patience. She needs time to settle, decompress & find security.
She was surrendered to us for being fearful. We do not know the cause of this fear, we can only guess :(
We have spent a lot of time sitting quietly with Sadie, allowing her to approach us when she feels ready. We are discovering that this gorgeous girl has the most sweet, gentle personality &, once she starts to trust you, she has a beautiful way of leaning in & resting her head against yours for kisses & soft talk. She will attach herself very strongly to those that she trusts but it takes time.
Sadie is gravitating towards females more than males at the moment. We must stress that any prospective adopters may need to make more than one visit to the shelter in order to spend time bonding with Sadie. She definitely needs time to build trust & feel safe around new people.
We are looking for an adult only home, no young kids as we feel that this may be too noisy & chaotic for Sadie. She needs routine, consistency, predictability, safety & bucketloads of love. She will return that love ten-fold.
Sadie has lived with another dog in the past & may well benefit from living with a sociable, confident dog buddy who can help her build up her own confidence.
She LOVES toys, carrying them around, ripping them up etc!
Sadie is now at the stage where we can pop on her harness & take her off-site for walks. She loves these neighbourhood rambles. She can, occasionally, get a bit spooked by sudden changes in her environment & needs some calm reassurance that everything is ok. She responds very well to this. She also walks beautifully on her harness & lead. It is very important to give her slow, positive exposure to new experiences so that she has good associations with them.
Sadie is on a journey of healing & it is paramount that we find her the right home where this will be faciliatated for her. A family who will understand her needs.
