About Dudley
Meet Dudley!
Dudley is a sweet, chatty boy who is looking for a calm and patient family willing to help him build confidence at his own pace. Having missed out on important early socialisation experiences, Dudley can find new people, handling and unfamiliar environments quite overwhelming.
Dudley will benefit from a low-key home with adopters who understand that trust and confidence take time to develop. He can initially be wary of unfamiliar people and may bark or vocalise when unsure, but with calm interactions, gentle handling and plenty of tasty treats, he quickly begins to relax and show his affectionate side. Once comfortable, Dudley loves being around his people and enjoys leaning into them for attention and gentle pats.
As he continues to adjust to life in a new home, Dudley may appreciate having access to a crate or safe denning area where he can retreat when feeling worried or overwhelmed. He would also enjoy indoor/outdoor access so he can spend time with his family while having the freedom to choose where he feels most comfortable.
When settled, Dudley's playful and cheeky personality shines through. He loves his toys, particularly tennis balls. He is also a clever boy who already knows sit, shake and drop. Food is a strong motivator for him, making training a great way to continue building his confidence and teaching new skills.
Dudley can become excited and boisterous once comfortable and will benefit from ongoing work on impulse control, calm behaviours and keeping all four paws on the floor. Due to his size and occasional exuberance, he would be best suited to a home with older children who can understand and respect dog body language. Any children in the home must meet him prior to adoption.
Dudley has been social and playful with other dogs and may enjoy a canine companion, pending a successful meet and greet. Any resident dogs must meet him before adoption.
