Hi there, I’m Dodo — a low-slung, soft-hearted guy on the lookout for a calm, loving forever home where I can truly exhale and just be me!

I’m 4 years young and, like most Dachshunds, I’ve got a nose for adventure and a serious talent for napping. I’m all about the quiet comforts in life: a warm lap, a soft bed, and a peaceful spot in the garden to sniff to my heart’s content. I would love if someone from my family could take a mini holiday from the hustle and bustle of life and be home more often to help me settle into my new home. I will need indoor and outdoor access in my new home and I have even mastered the use of a doggy door in my foster home. I will also require a yard with secure footing and solid fencing so that it can block my visual view of the world.

Loud noises and sudden commotion can startle me, so I’d feel most at home in a gentle, quiet environment — one with older kids (10+) who understand that I need a bit of space from time to time. Once I’ve had time to settle in, I’ll be your sweetest little shadow, following you from room to room and curling up beside you for movie nights, book reading, or just soaking up the love.

I really enjoy the company of other dogs like me and will need a canine companion in my new home — I have been in foster with another Dachshund and we have become the best of friends, we do everything together from playing to napping. I also share the home with 2 golden retrievers and enjoy playtime with them as well so I am not fussy about my canine friends, however I will need a home without any cats as they do not appreciate my enthusiasm for play.

If you are looking for a fella who loves to sunbath during the day and snuffle under a blanket with his family at night I’m your guy. I can't wait to meet you at the Hunter shelter and charm you with my gentlemanly personality!
